Hell yeah! I believe I never did these speeds with the 7.9m2. The 2013 Vapor rocks! Gaastra has a big problem now, how can you ever make a 7.9m2 Vapor that is even better than the 2013??? I started with the Manta79 + 46 fin and did 64 km/hr max with it. Time to take the 113 Liter Fanatic Falcon. Funny to use these 2 boards today, they are totally different. Manta79 was always my nicest board, but after today the Fanatic Falcon it THE one. Gybing is sooooo easy, the 45 km/hr alpha is a new PR is see now! Also nice distance. The nicest day this year untill now. I'm a happy guy. And now of to work, night shift, shitty.

weeral eens na mijn nacht na 3.5 uur te slapen naar herkingen.

De verwachtingen waren afnemend.

Even een dipje geweest maar top gevaren met enkele vrienden.

Alfa 9 X boven de 40 per uur 1 X  bijnan 42 zeer tevreden.

Het pas aangschafte boardje begint te wennen.

Top dag,jammer niet ruim genoeg.

Jammer MrB, maar de wind werkte niet helemaal meer mee...

Wel een geweldige sessie!!

Eerst wat klooien met een te korte zeillat, gelukkig ijzerzaag kunnen lenen van een geparkeerde lokale middenstander, en inox vijs zonder kop kunnen bijplaatsen.

Voor de tweede dag op rij was de door Windfinder voorspelde avondlijke wind op afspraak in Herkingen... eerst de aangekondigde dip tussen 19u en 21u, daarna ging het loss.. net op tijd, want we kregen het goed koud, zo keuvelend op de waterkant. Samen met Benjamin al surfend het duister ingegaan, rond 22u30 kwamen we in het bijna stikdonker van het water. Even zijn Loft mogen proberen (thanks! en ook voor de zeiltop), maar beviel me niet direct. Voelt star en stijf aan, ik heb precies liever een zeil dat wat meer leeft, dat geeft meer feedback over de invallende wind. Kan natuurlijk ook gewoonte zijn. Ook zichtbaar minder bolling.

Zelfde boardje, maar verschillende zeil, vin en bediener. Ik liep altijd trager en altijd minder scherp. Blijf ook alsmaar tegen mijn glazen plafond van +/- 55/u aanlopen, hoe ik ook aanloop, hoe diep ik ook afschiet, hoe goed ik ook let op het helemaal uitstrekken, board laten kantelen naar lij, voorste voet lichten etc............................. when ?

Nog heel wat te leren blijkbaar... maar alla... toch geruststellend dat BV's snelste runs niet tijdens mijn aanwezigheid gebeurden... de windkwaliteit zal er dan toch voor iets tussenzitten. Anderszijds: slechts 1 mislukte gijp van de +/- 70... dankbaar boardje dus, die FF85. Moet zelfs niet een vlak stuk uitkiezen om de draai in te zetten, en het dood moment in de bocht - wanneer je voor de wind zit en onvermijdelijk klapt op de golven - slaat het maar zelden uit zijn lood.

Happy ending of my 10 days off. My off days started on saturday 04/05 and the first 5 days there was no wind at all. From thursday till sunday we had family trip planned and guess what... It was blowing from thursday till sunday... So afterall happy that I could catch some wind today before going back to work.

The forecast was strong wind in the morning, decreasing during the day and increasing again in the evening. Didn't hurry at all and arrived at the spot ard 16u30. Quite surprisingly the wind didn't decrease during the day, in fact it was almost steady since the morning. 

Still with the forecast in mind I rigged my 7.0 and Falcon 85. Used the Crosfire 29 for the first time. The wind was almost square (ard 15° offset during the first 30 min and turned almost full square later on). Too bad I decided to start with some alpha training in the beginning because I did 4 of my fastest runs during 15 min (from 17:44 -18:00). The plan was to do the 10sec runs later with a few knots more wind... But that wind never came !! In fact the wind slowly decreased untill we had only 16 kts wind. The wind also became more square so did some runs up and down the dam. In the remaining 4 hours I only went 3 times barely over 60 (10sec). 

7.8m² should have been the prefect sail for todays conditions.

The wind strength finally started to build up around 22hrs and turned SW. Did my last runs at 22u30 in complete darkness. It's a special feeling when you cannot 'read' the water surface. The obstacles in the water were just visible. You couldn't see the gusts coming, you could just feel it when they arrived ;-)

Never had spinout with the Crossfire and happy with the downwind characteristics but more testing is required to have a complete view. 

During the session I had the feeling that my sail had less downhaul then in the beginning. When i de-rigged my sail, I found the downhaul rope that slipped 1cm through the clam cleat. Also my alpha's didn't went as fluent as with the 7.8 on the Falcon 85. However did 9 alpha's above 44, but there is still alot of room for improvement. Min speeds during gybe were all around 20 kmph, should be at least 25-27 for descent alpha's...

Afterall with 100km on the gauge it was a nice day with Regi (only in the beginning), Raymond and the usual late night surfer Pat Erauw.

Arrived at home at 01u15 drinking a well deserved beer now.

you forget to mention you did a PB on the Alpha! Just like me, funny.

Wind haaks op de dam. Dan maar een alpha training van gemaakt... weer iets sneller dan eergisteren in vergelijkbare omstandigheden... begint erg goed te gaan... of ligt het dan toch aan het board?? De Falcon 112 maakt het wel erg gemakkelijk. Niet normaal hoe easy dit board door de bocht loopt.

Toch weer een leuke dag met een select clubje... we zijn verwend de laatste dagen :-)
