Just like the old days!
Hardly any one out...
All rigged up and ready to go...
No wetsuit
Grrrr
Only live 8.5 ks away now so not too much of a trial
Just powered on the 4.6 thinking 5.4 would be sweet, however after Chris left it cranked up a good 5-10 kts and I thought it could be pb time...
Too rusty tho!
Was a good Life Affirming Exercise as I was freaking out going into the run hoping I would not die
Up till the wind kicked in it was just a safe cruise
I was sheeting out on my last run ...but it was pretty bumpy on the course
And I cant remember the upwind ever being harder
Thought I would snap my board...
Certainly put me off using the assy fin...
Definatlely out of tune with these conditions
Stoked Greg got a pb ....smashed his 39.8 to get a solid 40.0!!!
Well done mate!
Missed the Loomo!!
Get well Dude!
Most 40's you might se for a while!
Hope not!
But the last good sesh was 2 years 2 months ago !!!!
Look out Kiapara Heads...here we come!
Awesome session from the Kitesailors today
Just ad 10 kts to us and you have it
World class Lads!!

Finally achieved entry into the over 40 knot club. What a feeling to have reached this significant milestone in my windsurfing career. This is certainly a day I won't ever forget.

Thank you Bruce for your support and advice, it is greatly appreciated.

Lets cross our fingers and hope that we get some more of these fantastic conditions soon.

well done Greg, nice effort, it is a better effort if  you were still using that wave harness.

There is I think only 5 or 6  sailors above 40 knots in NZ, so well done on the 500 meters

Great going Greg ~ you right up there for over 40 knots/ 500m.

Must be a Few Akl windsurfers kicking themselves for not going out at Lynfield.
I'm one, ~ but had little choice, the cold mountain air got the better of me.

Here is the stats for 500m windsurf speeds in New Zealand waters;

Chris Torckler            42.49
Luke Wigglesworth     42.39
Luke Watson             41.41
Bruce Nicholson         41.15
Greg Olver                40.5
Peter John                40.28
Michael Howard         40.21
Craig Loomes            40.07

Luke W, nice 50 knot peaks ~ you fellows are right up there, been watching your rapid increase of posted speeds this year. For sure N.Z kiters have potential for world class speeds.

Wonder how many are watching the N.Z kiters filling the GPS rankings?

Hi Michael,
we now have 5 in the top 10 2009 in the kite section, if Chris T had come to the kaipara on saturday we would have had six for sure.

I forgot about peter john's 40 knots, he only sailed at Lynfield once and in bare feet!

cheers
Luke

Well done Greg!!
You got me on the 500 and thats the one that counts in my book!!
Awesome ride on what is basicaly a cut down 90's slalom board
Hate to think what you could have done on a speed board!
Next time you should try my 50 wide and blow us all away!
Go the scroggin!
I think now we could have done better if the course was broader...was a wee bit on the tighter side...
