A few of my PRs fell again today: edging upwards but no dramatic improvements! With St J right on my doorstep and some fairly decent kit it must be pilot error!  Some impressive impressive speeds being set by others, Bob C looked like he was really flying.
Great Day @ St Johns, could have done with a later and lower tide and some Flood lights though, as soon as we came off the water it started howling...  Great fun though.
Great Day,
St Johns is a nice fun spot, and gave us an enjoyable sail today.
I started on the Sonic 85 to get some Alpha times, but it was a bit gusty and i didn't nail my jybes super clean, but plenty more to come on the right day.
The wind picked up towards 4pm and I was able to get out on the speed board, we all sailed the far west bank, where the water was pretty flat but very gusty, 25-30knots one minute and a lot less the next. There was only really one place to bear off on, and the run out of that bank was very short and by the time you were starting to crank it up to a decent speed, it was time to stop before hitting the far mud bank. I had one decent gust and would probably had a 40 peak but had to stop before hitting the mudbank
Good to sail with everyone today and it looks like some decent times will be posted.
Tush X-15 5.8 worked like a dream today, and the 26 on the speedboard certainly helps the upwind somewhat.
Well worth the trip up.

Tide was just low enough.
For future reference the bank uncovers at 2.0m and todays LW was 1.4m but lower down the bank remained covered all the time. I reckon the whole run becomes exposed at about 1.2m.

I think everyone will be pleased with their speeds today.

When we get the right tide with the right wind the place is going to be really quick.

Another excellent turnout, so close to a classic day. A few degrees more SW or the wind kicking in 1 hour earlier and there surely would have been several riders over 40kts. By the time I was on the ferry, 20 mins after dark, it must have been blowing at least gale force!

I chose to sail mainly on the south course (Billy No Mates!) and was rewarded with very gusty wind where there wasn't even enough wind to waterstart at the top end and shifty conditions down the run. Hard work getting upwind, which is what I seemed to be doing an awful lot of. Several runs had big potential but the wind either died or it got too broad or choppy. SW or SSW should be awesome when the tide's right.

Quite scary being out alone in the middle of the river Tamar in fading light, unable to waterstart, glad there were no frigates heading to the dockyard. Jonny told me the Navy don't do weekends anyway!

Results threw up a reasonable Alpha racing result without actually going for it! Look forward to trying for this on a slalom board in coming months.

Good luck to anyone going out this week (Southend, WK?) - finally some consistent good wind for the UK.

I Got beat again!!! but a bit closer this time!!!
Interesting that my best 10 sec/pauls best 10 sec and Bobs best 10 sec all between 0.1knot!! Oh well we were all using the same 5.8 Tushingham
My skin feels lovely from all that mud!!
