Fantastic day at Horst. We had more wind than predicted. Conditions were technical and thus challenging. I was on the Simmer first and afterwards on the Loft sail. I fell straight through the mast. Don't really know what happened. All I know I fell full into the board with my harness (so it turned out later as it got clear to me at the end of the session the harness hook was imprinted in the side of the board...bummer...).

Anyhow..it gave me a good comparison between both great sails. I set the fastest and third fastest run with the Simmer and the second fourth and fifth with the Loft sail. the simmer needs to be trimmed with huge amounts of downhaul and negative on the outhaul. It's a bit of an old school feel with a modern touch. Stability is insane with lots of forward oriented drive. The sail is very, very fast on open courses for sure. The loft got away with a lot of outhaul. I sailed it with a super soft mast van den Berg imported and this helps to add even more control to the sail without losing endspeed. On upwind courses both sails are very easy to use with the loft having the modern feel of a "plate" sail trimmed to perfection. The Simmer has got more forward pull like mentioned and with that sail the stance needs to be a bit higher. Just a matter of preference I guess.

The new katana fin amazed me again. 31 cm underneath a 46 tail withoiut a single spin-out. The monster flew and eventhough I lost quite some time because of the bad luck i was happy with the average speeds I set without tuning experience. Its so much fun to go upwind like a freigthtrain after a run. It saves energy for the next run. Please more days like this.
