I forgot my 24 weedfin at home, and thought I would have a lot of trouble using a standard fin, but it was really fine. No weedproblems whatsoever. Maybe a single straw or two on the upwind tack. Started off much slower than expected. Had problems controlling the board. Had a really nasty tailwalk at 32 knots which scared me held me back mentally for the entire session I think. Tried lowering the boom and setting mast foot forward. Was only getting slower for every adjustment. Then Anders Bq told me to let go of outhaul drastically. From this point everything improved. The board calmed down with the new drag forward and I could start raising the boom and also move mast back. Gradually I regained confidence with the kit. I am amazed how much the erroneous outhaul could just breakdown the entire trim and sailing. Unfortunately it was getting dark when things finally got better. Still I must say that I am extremely unhappy that I could not go in-line with my PBs on the peak speeds. It was conditions in which I ought to go around at least 36 knots. I was frustrated and disappointed with the speeds being on the water. Now looking at it at home I see that I actually still improved my PBs on 250 and 500m, and it is my third best 5x10s ever. So maybe hard to be disappointed after all. I really learned a lot today. It is fantastic to have good and helpful sailors as company. Thanks Anders!
