Open ocean speedsailing. Got up really early and went down to the beach in Karradal. Looked really grim with high waves and howling winds. Decided to go to Torkelstorp instead for some flat water speeding. Was the first person there. Really flat, but not much wind. Put on a 6.7 and went cruising around for a while, but it was not really fun. Went back to Karradal. Wind still howling and waves were big, got out anyway. Started with Manta 59 and RS6 5.8. Felt really overpowered and was almost tailwalking for most of the time, but got over 30 knots on both tacks in the middle of the ocean right away. Went in to change to Warp speed and Mega XS 5.2. Felt a lot better, but was a lot slower. Tried different fins etc but nothing helped. Went in to change back to Manta 59 and 5.8. Felt on the edge, but speed increased dramatically. Continued to try different combos with sails and board, but 59 and 5.8 was consistently the fastest. Very surprised by this. The speedboard is normally always faster. Maybe this is not the case when speeding in the middle of the ocean. Speeded in high waves and every now and then found a nice valley to speed in. Absolutely lovely experience. Actually much easier surf than in a boiling choppy Fiskeback at similar winds. Probably the nicest day this year though speeds were not that good.
