I was planning to sail after work but someone arranged a meeting for 5.30pm! After a little cursing, I decided to "pop out" for a quick blast at lunch time because I wanted some practice on my slalom kit before the UKWA event in Poole at the weekend. Once at the lake I decided to go big and practice gybing in the gusts on my big kit (i.e. overpowered)! I had a pretty good session and my gybes seemed to be working well. GPSAR gave the best one 82% - when I entered at 15.4 knots and only dropped my speed to 12.7 knots before accelerating away. Sadly there was no wind at the UKWA event so I didn't get to pit my skills against the other racers.
It's also the first alpha racing score that I've submitted. I don't know how it rates but 20 knots doesn't seem like a bad start.
