Nice to meet Twan. A first time after my re-entry. Great to see young guns entering the scene, even if he obviously is a very well known name within the international community. People told me he is a nice and modest bloke and I can confirm :-).

Hopefully Twan will join the 2019 Weed Speed Race. It would be great to be able to race one of the best in the world.

Yesterday I got the new Carbon Tribal MK2 24 designed by Chris Lockwood. Eventhough I knew it wasn't the day for a speedboard and this fin and Sander plus Twan showed up I decided to stick to the plan. A full on head to head race is for next time. For sure I wouldn't have beaten Twan in these conditions, even if I would have used a larger board, sail and fin as today's conditions are in favour of the leverage game the tall and heavy can play, but I am sure I can get pretty close in conditions like this. So...hopefully Twan pays us a few more visits on promising days. Next time no excuses on my side, but a plain one on one battle for day honours.

Having said that...the fin is a killer. Super stoked with the performance and grip. I couldn't plane for nearly the whole day as winds were too light but in one squall and a single gust wind was more than enough and just enough for the 6.3 to be competitive against the larger sails. It gave me the opportunity to at least post the session. Serge got in too late for the first squall so only got one run in. During the squall the waterstate got truly rough as expected and in conditions like this you simply need a wider platform to get on top of the waves. To my surprise the fin gave impeccable grip, even in those pure slalomstyle conditions in which boardwodth and larger fins are needed, So, I am happy we stuck to the plan and happy with the very good first impression on what will for sure be shown later this season when the seagrass dampens the waves. Like said I hope Twan will then show his skills once more :-). He for sure will be blistering fast and I can't wait to see where I stand compared to him.
