This might have been this year's best session from a technical point of view. Everything fit. The whole trim felt awesome and it feels like the training with the Stealth is starting to pay off. I changed a lot of things. Put the boom lower because of the grunt machine (AKA Stealth), mastfoot a bit further forward and sitting a little deeper to get more power to the fin and I am slowly getting into using slightly bigger sails in moderate windspeeds. However I'm sure in higher winds where the windspeed/boardspeed ratio starts to change a lot, downsizing at high speeds can be very beneficial.

I used monster as well with a Z33 and the 7.6. Topspeed was just a little slower but the averages were just the same with this combo. I didn't use it with the 6.5 but I'm sure the board would have gone just as fast. The 7.6 was reaching is limits, you could feel the drag build up in the gusts. The sail was still easy to handle in the gusts, even while tacking so it wasn't a handling issue but merely an agility problem. The bigger size responds a little slower in the gusts, substequently the topspeed stayed behind.

The fins amazing. Handling is soo smooth and forgiving. They're slippery and once you push them too far it's easy to pull them back. Once powered up there's simply not the slightest doubt in my mind anymore whether the fins will hold the force of my legs. Speed is also a question of confidence.

Fins are playing a big role in buidling your confidence. Without a good fin that doesn't spin out you can forget to go fast. After a few nasty crashes you will instictively back off and it's even possible to get mentally prepared for the next crash. More than often this results in a sailing stance in which the next crash is already incorporated. You start to bend your arms and get closer to the boom with your body. This way the pressure on the back foot will get less in a gust which could result in a crash.
