Today was always going to be hard with me booked in to work all week after a quiet spell and with a good wind with hot wether it looked like I was going to miss a good session :( Lucky for me the job has been finishing fairly early and I have been getting home at 4 each day :) So I had to grit my teeth and grin and bare it at work as the wind rustled the leaves in the trees!!

The day started by loading Mags bike in the van so she could have an early morning ride back to Felixstowe, we had a look at The Dip and conditions looked perfect - low water and a good breeze but no erly bird kiters out. Dropping Mag off at Levington I continued on to Ipswich to start work.I was home at Felixstowe just before four and there was two cars at The Dip Mark Swain and Andy Mexome but they were not out on the water as the wind seemed to have dropped. It was too nice an afternoon not to try so I took my kit down. Mark and Andy had had a good day using 6.5, 7.0 and 8.0 sails but as the forecast the wind had gone SW and dropped :( but I decided to rig big and go for a cruise. I soon discovered that I was on the limit with the 9.4 and the beat down past the pier in the hot sunshine was full on :) Nothing beats sailing upwind on a longboard railed over in a big sea, certainly gets the heart pounding! I landed near the old windsurfing hut for adjustments and headed back really broad but was a little under sailing this way and I struggled to break 20 kts! I reached for about 5 miles then as I headed back upwind I couldn't get the track forward so landed on Bawdsey beach to fix it. The tide was strong here and I had to cross the wild river mouth and then beat past the pier again but sadly the wind dropped as I reached my turning point and the reach back was slow going. I was still out for nearly 2 hours in the sunshine and warm water:)
