I conned Mat Robertson into trying out the brand new '08 Gemini Tandem with me. He was surprisingly keen. He had obviously not really thought it through... ;-)

This thing is surprisingly easy to get going and scoot along on. It is very forgiving compared with the smaller speed tandem which is a really good thing for first time Tamdemers!

I think it is optimised for larger rigs than the 5.8's we were using. Downwind, it really felt like we should have the mast bases back further or the fin forward more as it just wanted to bear away deeper on its own and my sails foot was crushing against the deck but we will have to experiment a bit more to know for sure. Upwind with the centreboard down it felt very balanced.

I will try a bigger rig on the back next time. I gues there will be a next time because Mat still seems keen for more. :-)

I had a few runs with Craig later but only did 3 downwind runs and the wind had died a bit so we only hit 23 knots.
