First USM for me. Arrived at 12, sailed 'till 4 pm. Everyone was preparing their 6.0 / 5.5 sails so I was quite worried, since I don't have a 6.0 so the choise was between a 7.0 Lightning, or a 4.7 Zone. Choise wasn't hard to make and I must say the 7.0 with lots of downhaul was perfect! I always sail in rough choppy conditions, so I knew that my PR of 46,1 shouldn't be hard to beat on this flatwater spot (also first experience on Horst, amazing!) and indeed I did.
Met a lot of good guys there, good spirit and though I got sick in the afternoon, it still gives me a good feeling.
I've said it before and I'm saying it again: speedsurfing is like re-discovering the sport. First you learn how to sail, then you learn how to sail well and then you learn how to sail fast!
So I guess I'll be training on my choppy homespot from now on, until I get a next chance to hone my skills on flatwater! Until then!
