Survival day at La Franqui. At start the course was too broad which caused a nastly rolling chop. Didn't make any good runs the first half an hour when we sailed at the south side of the pier. After a cup of coffee we tried the north side of the pier. The water was flatter there. But the wind increased a lot. Gusts were measured of 45 knots. Sadly this was too much for me. Even the extra weight gained during my two week holiday was not enough. Made some carefull runs but was wasted after that. So an interesting day over here. Hope to come back here now that I know the conditions better.

de 5.7 was te groot , morgen beter!!!!

very difficult for me, I have identified 48 knots of wind, so the chop and sand that bothered, I have preferred to go to south's port la nouvelle , my gps GT 31 back one hour, it's not my day favorite , bad day for me

good job paul

nasty chop killed good speed

Friday 10thMay - windsurf *** La Franqui – sunny periods – wind 25/45kts

Falcon 80 & speed with 5.8 – 38.97kts today

Good night by the canal on the outskirts of Port-la-Nouvelle despite the wind and rain in the night. After breakfast headed for La Franqui  hoping that someone would be saing as the Defi wind big windsurfing race starts today at Gruissan!!! My new friend Paul from the Netherlands was there 0 his last day :( With the wind 25/30 started with the speedboard and 5.8 but the course from the pier toward La Franqui was all but unsailable for me and for everyone one else who tried because of the horrendous rolling chop causing bad spin out :( After a coffee with Paul at our van we decided to try above the pier toward Port-la-Nouville and I took my 80 as it’s easier for me too sail even in strengthening winds :( I had 5/6 runs and improved this year’s max and 10 sec  but it was no fun in winds gusting over 45 kts and a choppy sea !!! Most decided to call it a day before we broke our kit or ourselves!!!! Let’s hope tomorrow brings less wind and flatter water!!! I would like to try Port-la-Noville but you can’t drive on the beach there at the moment unless you have four wheel drive!!!

Then headed off the wild windy beach as Mag thought we were about to lose the campervan roof !!! and headed for our lovely sheltered spot by the Sigean Etang and even managed a game of Phase 10 (a card game) outside !!! before going for another nice walk in the pine woods and vines :)
