not realy happy

Disapointing speed today. But really the first time on the spot. Tomorrow is a new day :)

My first speed session in La Franqui ...

Great experience but dificult on a borrowed PD43 from my friend Chrisian Bornemann. I got familiar after a few runs but not really comfortable with the setup... it was possible to go faster for sure...
But with up to 62 knots at the end it lso was very challenging...
Lets see tomorrow, forecast looks great again... maybe to great..

Congratulations Oliver, very good speed for the first day and a borrowed board !!, What about Kay ?.

Here in Fuerteventura, we have light winds at the moment, but yesterday I got 30 knots in Corralejo with a Manta 116 and 8.6,....and no more than 22 knots of wind (...ok, maybe some gusts of 25).

Keep on trying, I'm sure you can improve it , good luck !!, See you at home.

Session 14: After a wonderful journey together with Oane Kingma we arrived at the famous beach of La Franqui. I started in light wind with the PD53 and Neil Pryde 6.4, excellent combination, made a very high topspeed max 2sec of 82 km/h. Then the wind became more serious (after 1 h), so I took the PD43 and the Neil Pryde 5.6. The expected speeds were ok, but no more than that. I tried different stances but no difference, then the hellhounds came loose and the wind became too strong, we could barely make it to the car.. But it was the first day, and more should follow... :-)

Yeah! Franqui trip 2016 together with Johan Huitema!

After driving all night we arrived on La Franqui beach where we were greeted with 'dutch weather', a very broad course and not much wind... not what I had pictured in my head! But with the forecast of both today and tomorrow, Johan and I had decided to put all our eggs in one basket and give it our best shot on saturday. So I decided to rig 5.6, which was a bit small at the time, but boy, would it come in handy later on.

After sailing a couple of times with lots of waves in the down the course, we weren't sure if the wind would come, but blue patches of sky were starting to appear. With their arrival, suddenly the wind changed angle and started picking up speed. There was La Franqui again as I had imagined it! ;) We sailed for quite some time until the wind actually became too strong and I had to wait for lulls to start as the wind was already getting too strong for 5.6. By the end of the day sand was flying all the way down the course and it was suicide to go out. But we were spent anyways and it had been a good day. Derigging proved still a challenge though and putting it all in the car, what a mess.

Great first day on La Franqui, I love sailing in these conditions!
