We all like to show off our latest and most expensive equipment to our buddies... but secretly deep down inside everyone of us has an older board or sail that he/she is emotionally attached to or for some reason secretly would like to sail more often than we do... but are afraid to, out of fear that our buddies will make fun of us :).
Well now, that's over ! This event was created exactly for those romantic moments, for re-living the nice memories from the past !
Turn upside down that cellar, attic, garage and garden shed, blow the dust off that lime-green or fluo pink speed needle you bought back in the '80s or '90s but were never able to drive through a planing gibe (you have learned to do that since then on your more modern stuff, haven't you ?), or that no-loose-leech sail without cams but still 10 battens (you have stronger biceps now than you did back then, isn't it ?), and give it a good go on your favorite speed spot !!

Now for the facts.
This event is open to everyone, worldwide, on any spot.
You record and post your sessions as usual. There are only two conditions:
- at least one item of your set (board, sail, fin) must be from a model year before 2000
- only complete session upload allowed, so no manual or partial posting, and your uploaded session must at least contain 5 runs.
The ranking will contain all the usual criteria: 2 sec, 10s avg, 500, mile, distance @500 etc.
Practical instructions
- you have to be member of the www.gps-speedsurfing.com site, and be able to upload sessions from your GPS
- add this event once to your personal events: Dashboard - My Items - My Events
- rig an old-skool set, e.g. a board from '95 with a sail from 2010, or a 2014 board with a speed sail from '99... power on your gps and make at least 5 runs on any spot of your choice. Then turn off your GPS to save this session, and turn it back on to continue your surfing day with your regular (modern) set. Or stay on your old-skool gear if you have gotten the hang of it again.
- upload the session in the normal way, select as event name "Retro Speed Gold Cup 2015"
