2010 Greek National Speedwindsurfing Championships

Location

The 2010 Greek National Speedsurfing Championships will be held depending on the wind forecast, at either of the following spots in Greece:

Tsimari:          lat=38.3555146808, lon=21.1075326196

Bitch Beach:    lat=38.3028121451, lon=21.149033499

Drepano:        lat=38.3386643985, lon=21.8504040625

Duration of contest

The Championship is a rollover event and will be held on a weekend during the following dates: 13/03/2010 – 30/05/2010. The call for the event will be given per email and on the the websites www.windsurfing.gr and www.gps-speedsurfing.com .

Calling a race day/weekend

The first official warning will be given at least two days before the start of an official race. The final call will be given at the latest 24 hours before the official start. If the race is cancelled, the organizer can give a call until 12 hours prior to the event.

Ranking

The ranking will be based on the well know GP3S concept: 5x10 seconds. Race ranking will be calculated based on:

-  Best average (5 best 10 second runs), and in case of a tie

-  Best ten second run, up until the 5th run, and then

-  Best 2 second run, up until the 5th 2 second run

Minimum Speed

A day counts as an official race when the fastest windsurfer reaches an average speed of 30 knots measured over 5x 10 seconds.

Results

-  Log on to www.gps-speedsurfing.com and register for the event.

-  Post your results on the event section within 48 hours.

-  People not familiar with downloading of the data must report this at registration. Help will be available at the end of the day.

-  The timekeeper can ask your track for verification.

-  Make sure that the time and date on the GPS unit is set for the time zone of the event location so that the track log contains the correct times. This will be checked before the start.

-  Ranking will appear on the event section automatically and becomes official only after verification by the timekeeper. Anyone found cheating will be banned from future events.

Safety

All instructions by the organization must be followed. Not following the safety rules will mean immediate disqualification.
