Sorry for the late post. I bruized my rib in a dumb crash halfway through the contest. It didn't really affect my sailing but it got worse during the evening.  I could hardly sit-up after the drive home. It's better now and I hope to be recovered if we have a Dutch Championship race next week.

It was probably the most challenging and best USM ever. Conditions were truly challenging and it was extremely hard to go fast. If we would have had this wind a month earlier for sure averages of the top guys would have been over 80km. Within minutes after the start the wind started to increase. I decided to opt for the 5.5 and felt after a short while I lacked nose pressure. Jacques and Peter were on the 6.2, I knew I had to go back but I felt my body wasn't up to it. It's a strange experience to notice age is starting to work against me, but I have to accept it. My arms felt like steel after one hour sailing and I could hardly grip my boom. I decided to make the best of it with the 5.5 and really enjoyed the sight of the riders really pushing the limits.

I can't even start to describe just how challening conditions were. It wasn't hard to go pretty fast but in order to really push it in the gusts up till 40 knots you really had to go in full lunatic mode. If we would have had these conditions a couple of years ago only a very few would have even tried to make some runs and now I saw crazy guns flying all over the lake. It was so much fun to see everyone was pushing eachother and I realized once again Holland will be a true speedsurfing Nation in the World Cups the forthcoming years. The USM is the perfect race format for talents to emerge.

Good luck to the winners and thanks a lot to all for showing up. It was great to sail with you all. Lets hope next week the wind will cooperate and the wind will help us to take last chance to have a Dutch Championship.
