First Try of my new GW60 gps watch. Used in salom racing conditions at Le Morne (le pointe) Mauritius. small choppy waters with some diluted swell lines coming into the lagoon area off the breaking waves on the reef a little further out. Wind was around 20-22 knots average with some gusts of around 25 knots (estimated), Sunny & around 25 C . The slalom race course had a mix of slight downwind, to tight across wind reach then a final dart run of a deep downwind angle to the finish line but in the same 'slightly turbulent', with white water, water conditions. Exciting racing but not the most ideal for speed sailing and wasnt really focussed on speedsailing as such either. Was keen to try out the GW60 watch after having waited to try it for quite a while. It's a nice gps watch unit, simple to use and set up. Easy to read display.

(on the day the speed read a max of peak of around 29.79 ish knots, but seems whenever upload to gp3s site that result is a little lower, possibly the doplerspeed is then applied?) In using this watch and the Navi GT31 in a speed challenge it seems that other non dopplerspeed gps units give a slightly higher reading? I admit I could be wrong here but will have to do some serious checking as accuracy really ought to be uniform in a speed/event challenge i.e. as far as possible. However it's good to have and know that I now have reasonably decent gps units for my own speed results.
