Fantastic sailing day at the Houw eventhough it rained sometimes.
I messed up big time. Not usual for me but it happens. I think I know what I have to change. The weed speed is fast and I know it but at the Houw there is hardly time to accellerate so you have to go for a lifting fin to make sure to maximise speed cross wind. I stuck to it wanting to test it in the bigger winds to come. When they arrived I thouyght the sail was too big to feel comfortable and changed to the 5.5 hoping for the wind to stay. Well it didn;t and I lost valuable time. No excuse just dumb on my side.
Maximizing lift and accelleration is needed so more downhaul for me (that I changed and it dic help) plus a lifting fin. I hope it will do the trick, otherwise I have to accept I am getting old :-)
Anyhow, whatever I do tomorrow I am sure Sander will be way out of reach for me. He was flying. Also Peter was there and eventhough he fooled around a it with a test sail he showed he still has got it to win. Both of them love these conditions and are true masters of the game. Regardless of the outcome it's a pleasure to sail on days like this. I totally enjoyed it and the atmosphere as well.
