Coros
2026 UPDATE
Between 2020 and 2025, COROS and GPS-Speedsurfing.com worked closely together to develop dedicated firmware functionality specifically for speedsurfing. This collaboration initially resulted in a dedicated release for the COROS APEX Pro and VERTIX 1, and was later extended to the APEX Pro 2 and VERTIX 2/2S.After 2025, the cooperation ended as COROS reprioritised its target markets and product development.During 2024, some significant firmware issues were introduced that affected the reliability of speedsurfing data on the older APEX Pro and VERTIX 1. As a result, these devices will no longer meet the requirements for full approval on GPS-Speedsurfing.com from 1 January 2027.
This does not mean that sessions recorded with the APEX Pro or VERTIX 1 can no longer be uploaded or used. However, from 1 January 2027, sessions from these devices will receive a lower classification within the GPS-Speedsurfing.com ranking system. The newer COROS APEX Pro 4 and NOMAD are currently also not compliant with the GPS-Speedsurfing.com requirements. An initial assessment of the available data quality and algorithms used by these devices indicates that they cannot be approved in the short term without additional improvements by COROS.
From 1 January 2027, the only fully approved COROS devices on GPS-Speedsurfing.com will be the APEX Pro 2 and VERTIX 2/2S.
GPS-Speedsurfing.com remains open to future improvements and renewed cooperation with COROS if the necessary data quality and algorithmic requirements can be met.
