Event description and NOR

Welcome to the Irish Speed Masters, the official IWA (Irish Windsurfing Association) speed event which will crown the masters of the speed discipline in Irish waters each year.

The event runs from the 1st of November to the 31st of October the next year, coinciding with the IWA calendar of events which finishes on October 31st with the last Slalom event of the year and AGM in Kinvara, County Galway.

The rules of the event are simple. Simply record your speed using your favourite GPS (see for more info on the recomended devices) and upload your sessions on

Every session in Irish water counts for the Irish ranking (Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland). But you must first subscribe to the event here: . You can also add your old sesssions (November 1st onwards) by editing your sessions (under my' sessions/ admin sessions') and then selecting the 'Irish Speed Masters' under 'event name'.

The average speed that is used for the ranking is measured over 250m. One single run of 250m is enough to make it count which means that there are many spots around the coast of Ireland where this can easily be achieved. We will be posting a list of suitable spots on the Irish Speed Sailing Championship Facebook page where we will raise the alarm when the main spots are about to fire too.

Speed enthusiasts of all ages and abilities are welcome. There are three main categories:

1. Gold fleet where competitors can use any equipment they want

2. Silver fleet - no multicam race/speed sails and no speed boards allowed

3. Foil fleet - to post a foil session check out

Prize giving on the 31st of October each year. Good luck to all.
