Third trip to the Ray but the anticipated wind didn't really materialise. It was still good to be out on the water with Ian and Will for company and we all enjoyed the session. Will was trying a 6.7m on his JP Speed 45 so I decided to try a 6.2m on mine which it seemed to handle it pretty well, although 5.4m seemed a better match (last time). The Choco Mach-1 24 felt much better than the stock JP Speed 24 and I was able to trust it even when loaded up. Did a handful of good gybes on my speed board (which I am still getting used to) and one felt particularly good with a minimum speed of 14 knots. It didn't make it into an alpha result but it was 3 knots faster than the gybe that gave me an alpha result of 21.34!
A note about southerly winds... try the eastern course on port tack because that is where Ian and Will got their best speeds.
