Day at the Ray - Part 2
Almost two hours after the boom incident I'd managed to get back to the car, have somehting to eat, re-rig and get back down to the water. During that time I had covered 3km whilst carrying my kit in some fashion or other!
I'd decided to take my speed board out this time but I was also forced to use my 5.4m because of my boom for the 6.2m was trashed. When I got down to the water, I could see that the wind had eased up and was only a few knots stronger than my first session. I think Ian was wondering whether I'd even get planing!
I had a few runs down the course but I felt underpowered and heading back upwind, I was often coming to a standstill in the lulls and sunk on numerous occasions. On a positive note... I can say that I was able to uphaul, lol.
No really good speeds but as the saying goes, a bad day on the water is better than a good day in the office! Just as we finished de-rigging, the wind picked up to an average of about 25 knots, maybe gusting 40 knots.
Despite everything, I actually quite enjoyed the day although maybe not the walking - 6km in total.
