Fantastic and not so very good day at the same time. Surfed in Shitbay with the Lundvall Bros. Arrived at 06:15. Very windy. Rigged the 5.8 and the 26cm fin. Then when getting light at around 06:30 the wind dropped drastically. Went out, did not get any speed and had a hard time going back upwind. Changed to 30cm fin. Went ok for a few runs. Then wind started to pick up. Went in to change fins again. Got windier and windier. Was getting too choppy for any good speeds except for in the very small windward corner of the bay. Got one really good run where a gust hit me at exactly the right moment and got over 37 on the display for the first time, but the length of the "speed strip" at this point was ridicilous, maybe I got 50m at high speed before having to jump off before hitting land. Continued to get windier and windier and I could not do much at the end. Was getting cold and had to quit it. Had a bad cold this week and am not in normal shape. Have to get back to training and regaining shape. Could have changed down to 5.2 and have a few more runs if I just had the stamina. First time with my new GPS. Carried the old one as a back-up as I have not really understood the new one yet, but it seems now I have managed to get things into the computer. The new GPS showed higher speeds for all runs but two, the two fastest ones. On the fastest one, the old GPS showed 37.5. The best 2s with the old GPS was 38.4 and the 5x10s was 32.86. Nice with some high speed, but I have to admit I am longing after a really good 7.8 day with more time ON the water and less time IN the water. After the surf Magnus Lundvall took a swim without the wetsuit. Arctic hard core.
