Mega choppy Horst day and a second test on the new Tribal boards. I took it easy on the Radix 88, in order not to break my bones and gear on a completely new board, but could notice just how easy the boards are underfoot. As it was really radical I decided yo go back early and digest again what I felt, just like last time in the bizarre gale we had. Serge was a good reference point and the first impression was more than satisfactory..
After I got back I gave the Tribal Rapid 45 a spin and I already dare to predict the speedseries will become the new benchmark in speedsailing. I sailed quite a few boards in my life, but never did I experience anything that comes close. The Rapid Speed sereis 45/48/53 will cover about 95% of my coming speed days at Horst and my estimate is a gain in average speed of 2 kilometres to the boards I sailed the last years, low estimate. Of course this needs to be proven first but my bet is on. These boards are simply rockets. On my one run I could have jumped from a first gust into a second one. I deliberately stopped as I was sure I would have gotten close to or over 80 kilometres an hour over full chop. This one run told me enough and I am in no rush to prove my point on the new boards. All I know is that Peter and Chris has done a magnificent job and created full on open water and speedbank bullets.
