This was a fun day. The KA 6.3 felt amazing. I took a 430 base plus 400 top and super low downhaul as I am used to by now when I take the KA instead of the S2. It's so much fun to compare and realize how two completely different concepts both work so well.

Furthermore I am helping out Michi Still with the smaller sizes of his fins since my new S2 team buddy Orjan Zandvliet handed out a fin to test. Again the same applies. I love the Tribal MK2 which has got a completely different character. In given conditions the MK2 is better. In others the MS fins add some spice. The fun is with finding out what works for you in various conditions. As a light rider I am looking for control and a neutral pitch angle. Both the Tribal and MS fins provide. Both in a very specific and unique way.

Fumbling around with gear is a large part of the mysticism that makes our sport so beautiful, at least to me.

After so many years, helping out designers like Art, Peter, Michi and/or racing the fruits of their labor still makes the sport ultra interesting. Days like this make me realize that I hope to be able to race for a long, long time to come. When looking at granddad John Overmeer who is still out there I might have some years left to find out where our niche sport will take us.
