Friday 12th August - Windsurf **** - The Dip at Felixstowe – sunny and hot.

 Foil – 19.59 knot max, (spot PB) 18.63 knot ave.,(spot PB) 13.72 knot hour, 17.29 knot mile, 47.33 km., 14.10 knot alpha. (spot PB)

Starboard Freeride 150 and Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Thunderbird 6.5.

After an early morning bike ide with Mag, down on the prom at 6.50, then home to do my exercises in the very hot back garden I arranged to meet Ian and Robert at The Dip at 3 which turned to 2.30 as the wind was up to 18 knots and even looking that it might be enough to fin! Conditions again looked good with flat water and the strongest wind we have had this week, it has been enough to foil every day since Monday, these east winds just keep on giving, so hot too! No 7.5 required today, I went straight for my favourite Thunderbird 6.5 while the lighter Ian and Robert rigged 6.5 and 6m, we were joined a little late by Paul and Al who had traveled from Cambridge with his journey taking longer as the Orwell Bridge was closed due to a roadside fire! Fingers crossed we get some rain next week as things are getting pretty desperate in these parts after weeks with no rain! It did look a little light for my 6.5 when I set off but I soon reached the wind and had another good two hours with a string of spot PB’s including best max, mile, ave., and alpha, gybing is so much better with the smaller sail:) It is just so much fun pushing the board fast broad, breaking 19 3 times by my standards is pretty fast especially as the sea was fairly big the further you went out! I did crash a couple of times pushing it hard when the foil breached but no pain no gain! I certainly feel really comfortable on the new kit and these speeds were my best for the open sea, cant wait to have a go on the flat water at Levington to see if I can get a 20 knot average! With the wind going patchy I decided to call it a day, shame rreally as it was now superr flat in close with the tide low, in fact it was very low, with the fort clearly showing and people could actually walk and touch the red channel bouy in the River Deben! 
So, after 4 sessions in as many days covering 130 miles with 7 PB’s it looks like we are losing the wind but remaining verry hot, a couple of 35 degree days now!
