Sunday 28th June – windsurf *** - River Orwell at Nacton Shore – sunny periods.

F2 Ride 282 with 36 cm fin and 7m X-15 Tushingham sails

Fin – 26.06 knot max, 24.37 knot ave ., 9.71 knot hour, 16.08 knot mile, 25.40 km., 14.37 knot alpha

I was keen to give Nacton Shore on the River Orwell today even though high was late in the afternoon, so after dog my exercises in the garden I packed a sandwich headed off around one. The car park was heaving, a nightmare with a trailer but I managed to park. I then took my lunch down to the river but the tide was very low having got there way too early! I then read a chapter of my book and then decided to set my gear ready. Choosing the right gear is not easy here as there is a wood opposite at Pin Mill which messes with the wind! In the end I rigged a 7m for my 115 again. Whatever I picked would not have been right with wind gusting to 30 knots one minute and 10 knots the next, also it was quite lumpy down the middle of the river. I would have been better off with my 133 lt. to help through the lulls! I did have some nice long runs down towards Levington and back. Nothing really fast as lumpy but at least I learned that in future I will stick to the marina and hope it opens on the 4th of July. Still I was out in beautiful surrounding for a couple of hours and one more day of windy conditions to come, if my poor old body can stand it!!!
