Was a decent WSW forecast. W is the prodominant direction here. Windguru had it at 26-38. I was hoping to get some runs off square and clean wind, as last time here it was pure West as it came over the hills, and was gusty. Unfortunately that didn't happen as the only place that seemed to get reliable-ish wind negated that angle. And it was gusty. Had to walk 1.5km to get into the wind zone. Occassionally the gusts were still going at the end of the course where you could go a little broader, but the wind strength had also backed off so I couldn't take advantage of the extra angle.

On analysing the tracks I can see on a couple of them I only just squeezed out 10secs before backing off, notably my fastest 10sec. Next time I'll be sure to hold those faster feeling runs a little longer, even if I end up on in an unfavourable position on the course.

The best runs came after a small rain squall, where the wind was solid for about 25-30mins. Quite possibly I could have got in some longer runs during this time, but as there had been no wind in the bottom of the course at the start of the day I didn't want to risk a 1km walk back to where the wind currently was.

I'm not sure how decent this spot can get. The WSW direction is where it exits from a valley, and the wind is essentially spat out, so in all likelyhood will remain gusty on the best of days. Patience and luck is needed to get those gusts which can give you the deeper angle. Not sure you'd get 5 in a day though. There looks to be another bank which is a little more into the middle of the valley, so it's possible it could get cleaner wind. It's also twice as far from the hills as this run, so could be cleaner. It's only 500m long though. It looks like I could possibly sail over from Collingwood.
