Almost ! Bit of a case of shoulda, coulda, woulda (when is it not? hahaha). Left Dublin at 4am to pick up Stephen, got there in plenty of time, but spent too much time having breakfast, rigging and walking dog before leaving her locked in van. By the time the course showed, SHOULDA had the 4.7 rigged too, as it suddenly squalled 45 knots for half an hour. 2nd run in this squall on my 5.5 got me my 46kn peak, but so hard to get back upwind, it took major effort, and no time to rig 4.7, so just went with 5.5. Wind backed off a bit when tide was really good (and could have been a bit broader), but still plenty of good practice on the new board, which is sweet as a nut. Stephen had my JP 45, so I just stuck with the small board to get more mileage on it. It just wants to go faster and faster.... probably time to upgrade my EVO II and get a broader day. At end of day wind went broader, but tide was already too high again. Cracking day though, more to come this week I hope.
