No time to drive far away, but no complaints , it gave me the opportunity to try the new spot that my friends Benjy and Pat had consecrated the day before yesterday.
Very nice session with Yves in the middle of the Westerschelde at the Plaat van Walsoorden. The first 2 km of this sandbar has a bit of a cup shape, perfect place for those long flat water runs (probably did my fastest NM on Dutch water). Then there's an extension of the sanbar (risk of shallows!), after that you can sail another 2km.
At the end of my relative short session (I had to return already before low tide), the wind increased a few knots, so that my board (and 36cm  fin) was too big. Last run was scary (I was completely alone out there, because Yves had to stop even earlier), but it was far out my fastest of  the day. For my AVG, it was a shame that I had to stop.
The retreat of 2 km was not really comfortable in waves of more than 1 meter (at low tide).

Conclusion: with moderate wind conditions, this is really a worldclass spot for all short and long distance GPS rankings.
With more wind I definitly have to eat a lot of sandwiches to bridge the 2km to the sandbar with an overpowerd speed board (and afterwards come back blush)

Thanks Pat for waiting for me until I arrived safely at the shoresideyes
