REPOST BY TIMEKEEPER

Unreal how fast this canal is! My last world record was 41.25 in St. Maries now almost 10 years later I could improve by 5 kts. Already the trip from Cape Town to Luderitz was very nice and the Luderitz town itself has a interesting history which you can still follow and feel today. Before I came here I had respect to sail in this canal but with Patrik's help & tipps it was an easy approach and I felt confident straight away. The first days were lighter and perfect to get a feeling for the canal and get ready for the windy day. Last Monday all happened so fast and after my two warm up runs already the 3 run was my record. The wind kept picking up and when the sand started flying over mast high I borrowed to Patrik my 5.0 and I helped him to chase Antoine. With more runs and waiting for the lucky one I am sure I can go quite a bit faster and watching the guys chasing the 100km/h I believe for us women it is possible to reach the 50 kts very soon.

What a crazy day ()-:

I first sailed with 5.6 and 40cm board but suddenly the wind picked up so much that I could not see the canal anymore due to mast high flying sand and I also had no chance to hold on the sail and I droped out in the corner. I first though thats it for today but when Antoine blasted down and immediately hit over 52 Karin pushed me to use her 5.0. The first run I went save to feel the sail and for the second run I changed to smaller board. It was so much fun having the canal just for Antoine and myself and sailing trough sand walls without seeing anything was realy giving the adrenalin kick and the speeds were almost second priority. Still I was super happy to see so many 52's and especially my average speed over 500m was really consistent.

The 37cm custom was very stable and I had never the feeling to drift at all and I could have gone faster with it. The sail also felt very nice but I missed some release in the top which conformed after seeing all the videos.

Yesterday I rigged the 5.0 again and I wished I would have tuned it before but unfortunately I have so much equippment to test and I never thought about that I will ever need thgis size. After looking at the videos and could easy find the improvements and I changed all battens and rigged 5 different masts to find what I was looking for.

I really hope to get the same conditions again and I am sure the extra knot to beat Antoine or even be the first one sailing 100km/h over 500m is possible!
