Great way to begin a new year!

A change came through early this morning and the forecast was for westerly at around 20 knots, turning WSW late in the day and reaching around 25 knots. That was pretty much what happened.

I got on the water at around 6pm with 2012 5m KA Koncept on CA40 with C3 slingshot 19cm fin. It took a couple of runs to crack the 40 but speeds kept increasing for a few runs until the wind suddenly started to die out at around 7.30.

20 to 25 knots looks very optimistic with such a board-sail combination or am I wrong?? wink

Great speeds for sure Andrew!! Nice to start the new year indeed!

I wery much doubt there was more than 25 knots at any time that day. The water was flat and the wind pretty consistent with a perfect angle. I had the sail rigged really full but had to wait for a puff to get going up the top of the speed course on the sandbar.

The nearby wind stations at Pound Creek and Yarram were saying gusting around 20-25 knots, less a lot of the time.

Remember that I am only 74 kilos. Mat is about the same size as me and was using his 5.8m Koncept without any problems.
