Ging weer niet lekker vandaag 

Eerder moeten  stoppen door een lichte beschadiging aan het boord  

enorme uitdaging vandaag:

Nieuw zeil; nieuwe settings

Wind is vlagerig en half aflandig

Niet fit (al 1,5 week verkouden)

kortom: snel door naar de volgende sessie ;-)

Blij weer even op 't water te zijn geweest, maar de sessie an sich was de moeite niet waard. Kon er geen snelheid uit krijgen vandaag en het voer ook gewoon niet relaxt. Degene die vandaag de meeste lol had was Manfred denk ik, die stond met een leuk setje op het water ^^. 

Testing session with new board, new fin and new sail. Had to get used to it for a minute, but it didn't feel bad at al. Especially when I tried the proto 6.6 Koncept.. Lovely sail, super neutral and brilliantly light feel in the hands and still fast!

The SX Silberpfeil 58 amazed me a lot, this thing is hungry and eats chop for lunch and also has it for desert. The full carbon version is VERY stiff, and you can feel that in the legs after 80 km of chophopping. I'd love to give it a good go on a nice flat and windy speedday!

Next time hopefully double temperature figures, 5 degrees is not a lot.. :)

Of ik de meeste lol had weet ik niet, maar goed naar mn zin had ik het inderdaad absoluut wel!
Mooi dat je even hebt kunnen proeven ;)

Wat een weer! Last van koude handen!! Al bij het optuigen materiaal pech (scheur in voorlijk van de 5,8). Toen maar de 5,4 opgetuigd om toch te kunnen varen maar die was te klein. En / of er waren na drieen te weinig vlagen op het ondiepe. Hoop dat mijn zeiltje nog gerepareerd kan worden!

Eind van de middag nog even kansloos op de plank gestaan. Geen wind, veel te klein alles, koud.Dit doe ik niet weer.

Today turned out to be a very nice open water speedboard testing day.Perfect for the 2 new Rockstar sizes: 54 and 60. The 60 is designed for flat open water speed with sailsizes around 7.0-7.8 and the 54 for 5.6-6.3. But it will for sure carry a 7.0 without a problem. 

Started off with the 60 and it runs super loose yet controllable. With 6.3 I was on quite a small size, with others running sizes of around 7.0 and I was doing very good speeds from the beginning in the light winds, even with the 6.3. Later on the wind got stronger and speeds went up along with that. Still lots of control by changing from 32 to 29 to 28 cm fins. It will suit fins of around 35-27 is my guess for now.

The wind became a bit stronger so I went out on he 54 as well after John sailed it all the time before that. Being also fast on flat water, it is in essence designed to go fast in rough conditions. Setting all my runs all day on port tack, going out into the chop where the water becomes deeper I could clearly feel the difference in character between both boards which is what we did the test for afterall.  It is loose but with a different feel, more locked in compared to the 60, which is a super loose lighter wind board. I set my highest topspeed and averages on the 54 in full chop.  Hopefully we will get some more wind soon and use it in it's intended wind range which lies higher than what we had today.

The Racing Blade 6.3 felt great. 2nd time on the water but now at least I was able to plane properly compared to last time. I have a good feel of the sail and some things i'd like to try out with it in mast truning, I think I can give it 2 very different characters, both for it's own specific use. 1 thing is certain and that is that this sail is really better than the 2011 which was great. let's see.

Zeer geslaagde testdag. Barre omstandigheden, 5 graden, veel regen en een te zuidelijke wind waardoor de vlagen tot 28 kn. alleen middenop doorkwamen waar je ze natuurlijk voor speed niet optimaal kon benutten vanwege de shop.

De Rockstar 54 is werkelijk een fantastisch board. Ik heb hem vandaag mooi kunnen vergelijken met de Falcon 80, toch zeker ook een topboard, maar de Rockstar is beter vooral de controle over de shop is enorm, daar waar de Falcon begon te stuiteren liep dit board rustig door. Het gijpen gaat uitstekend en het hoogte lopen ging ook beter als met de Falcon.

De KA 5,8 Koncept beviel ook zeer goed, meer power onderin als mijn "oude" Maui's dus meer speedpotentie en een vergelijkbare dus prima handling. Ook de nieuwste 5.0 nog even uitgetest. Dezelfde conclusie. Daar zelfs nog de snelste run mee gevaren terwijl het zeil verder meestal te klein was.

Graag meer van zulke dagen maar dan een paar graadjes warmer en met een gezellig zonnetje!
