I turned up at about 3pm to find Brogborough windier than it has been in months - a good 20 knots... gusting 25 knots. Keen to get some proper slalom practice, I rigged up my 7.2m and got out on the water only for the plastic clip on the end of a lower batten to come undone. I came back to shore and then snapped it trying to do it back up! I then stood around for a bit (slightly annoyed), rigged up the 6.2m and went out again. After the first gybe I saw what looked like a slightly snapped batten. I tacked and it was clearly broken... wtf? So, back to shore and rigged my last remaining sail (8.4m) whilst the wind started to drop. Once out, I was struggling to plane and cursing that I had missed the best wind in months but then some wind came back and I had a good hour of sailing. So, a very dodgy start but a good session in the end. The best session at Brog since May and over 30 knots on an 8.4m.
