Monday 27th May – windsurf ** River Orwell, Levington – sunny periods.

F2 Xantos 310 with 44 cm fin and Tushingham Lightning 8.5

Fin – 24.64 knot max., 23.07 knot ave., 8.15 knot hour, 14.87 knot mile, 25.80 km., 15.67 knot alpha.

A bit of a bonus session today as I wasn’t expecting it to be windy enough but where as yesterday on the River Stour I was planing 95% of the time, today it was closer to 5% on the River Orwell! Well maybe a little more than that but it was pretty gusty here at Levington. Still the sun was out and it was warm for a flounder with loads of yachts and I did manage to get a few nice gusts and in the end was pleasantly surprised with my top speed and average:) I arrived just after low and it looked plenty breezy enough so rigged as yesterday and sailed out of the marina entrance and you have loads of water especially down towards Felixstowe dock, you could even foil from low water with the wind in this direction! I had a two-mile run down to the docks struggling to get going but things improved in patches. I saw some friends heading out on a yacht when I arrived and saw them again as I was finishing, they shot a short video of me! Might even be some more wind Wed/Thurs so fingers crossed.
