Forecast was really hard to call.. I was woken up last night by the most insane windsquall outside my house. It was a solid 40knots plus and it sounded as though the roof was going to be torn off - I had no choice but to get up and watch tele since there was no chance of sleep.
First thing this morning the wind was still strong WSW and the salt lake outside my place was full and getting ripped up by the wind. Looking at the forecast i was still unsure where to go.. Simon and Mark Burgess were off to Daymer, Thorpy was down at the Bluff wavesailing and my brother was also headed to Daymer.
The wind was due to switch SW so I hoped it would stay WSW for some decent blasting. Upon arrival it was SW and gradually moved SSW. I rigged the 5.8 and dragged my kit down the beach but the angle made it impossible to sail anywhere near the bank as it was blowing straight up the river. By this point it was too late to go anywhere else so I just fully went for it in the chop and rolling swell.. Top fun, good practice and pretty scary most of the time. My best run the chop was so high and the far bank was approaching fast so I simply flung my gear away.. It got blown 10ft in the air and just avoided landing up on the bank.. LOL.
Was going to go wavesailing too but couldn't be bothered to wait for the tidal push. Hopefully Thor and Mark will get a good jump fest
