Thursday 14th September – windsurfing *** Levington – sunny periods

28.59 kt. max, 26.21 kt. ave., 7.68 kt. hr., 16.26 kt. mile, 18.8 km., 15.75 kt. alpha.

After four days windsurfing I was going to give today a miss as the wind was NW and the tides made the local Rivers sailable from about 2.30 so I didn’t want to travel. So, I spent the morning reading and sorting out yesterday’s pics, some top shots were taken by Peter Cutts:) Then we went to collect some blackberries from Landguard and it was cold further damping my enthusiasm to go windsurfing. Then shopping at Lidl followed by scrambled egg, then David Coles said it was blowing 25 knots and was heading to Bradfield so with the sun now showing its face I decided to give Levington a try. I arrived at the Marina at 2.15 and the slightly off but gusting well over 20 mph I decided to rig 6.5 on the Xantos 295. No kit was going to be right as the wind was very up and down, also there was a good swell running down the middle of the River Orwell :( I spent an hour and a half sailing across in front of the marina peaking at a pleasing 26 knots! Then the wind went light as a big dark cloud approached so I waited for the wind to increase. When it arrived, I had three runs in excess of 27 kts with a 28.59 max :) Then wind then died so I called it a day.

What a five day it’s been! 5 sessions at 3 different venues with some good speeds, covering 170km :)
