Had a look at Farm cove at 10.00 am. Car park flooding with King tide. Looked very ugly for speed. Next stop Shoal Bay right on high tide. Flooded also and very NNE. Raining and ugly. Decided to have a look at Takapuna boat ramp. Even more ugly with waves breaking over the seawall into the carpark. Soon after the wind dropped and started to try to go offshore . 
Son arrived shortly after with my surfboard. Surfed 2 - 3 ft main beach then joined the crowd of shortboarders on Takapuna reef with the dropping tide. Epic 3ft ish set waves breaking way past the channel marker.

Ended the session with my son chasing bigger waves at Daniels Reef Leigh,  3-5 ft I'm guessing (with no water !!). Were keen but made the call to rest my body (Yeah Right !!) and have a windsurf with the incoming tide at Meola. Fun session powered up and not too choppy, probably because it was true west half way down the run. NW at the top. The reef covered real quick.
