1st day sailing down the canal. the wind was good but the angle was really bad. 3rd year here and this was the worst chop I have been through. The forecast was for the strongest winds from 3pm to 5 with the direction changing slightly to a easterly totch of South, perfect. it was a waiting game to see if firstly the wind increased, it did, and whether it would go from 160 degrees to the course to a flatter 145/150. At 160 the rolling chop is horedous. When I did my fastest time I thought I had blown it with 100m to go, really hard core when it was at its windiest. Should of put some weight on to start but wanted to get used to the start of the canal again. Kept waiting for the angle to change but it never did, only did 5 runs with the last at 30 knots.
